Experience Francis Scott Key’s Frederick

Francis Scott Key’s uniquely American story begins and ends in Frederick. Frederick’s Mount Olivet Cemetery is the final resting place of “Star-Spangled Banner” author Francis Scott Key, and the cemetery also has an impressive monument dedicated to Key. Key was aboard a ship near Baltimore Harbor during the bombardment of Fort McHenry on Sept. 13-14, 1814 when he wrote the famous song.
